Natalia Christofoletti Barrenha

I am an experienced film programmer, researcher and cultural manager. I am Brazilian and I am currently based in St Leonards-on-Sea.

As well as leading teams by developing, encouraging and inspiring them, I have successful coordinated several cultural projects (especially film cycles) from conception to completion: this includes programming, securing funding, meeting deadlines and objectives whilst maintaining tight control of the budget. I also participate in several events by welcoming international guests, conducting Q&As, introducing screenings, supervising logistical/technical issues, interacting
with the public, as a production assistant, fundraiser and as a jury member.

I am also a film researcher and lecturer specialising in Latin American film, the author of two books and several articles published in international academic journals in several languages (Portuguese, Spanish and English), and I have already presented my work at more than 30 conferences around the world. I hold a doctoral degree in Film Studies from Universidade Estadual de Campinas – UNICAMP (Brazil), and I was also a Visiting Fellow at the KU Leuven (Belgium) and have participated in research projects within the Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina). Between 2011 and 2020, I was a member of the editorial board of ‘Imagofagia’, the leading film studies journal in Argentina, being co-editor from 2017.

I also work as freelance journalist, writer and translator (EN => PT, EN => ES, PT ES).
