KNITSONIK LTD.

I’m Felicity (Felix) Ford, the creative force behind, and sole operator at, KNITSONIK LTD.

I’m an artist working with knitting and sound. I have been operating under the moniker KNITSONIK since 2011. I make my daily bread and butter selling self-published books and online courses that share my creative perspective.

I’m best known for teaching and sharing my creative approaches to knitting – particularly translating everyday life into stranded colourwork (KNIT); for my socially-engaged creative work with recorded sound (SONIK); and – unexpectedly – for my surprisingly popular creative bullet journaling course.

I’m interested in how creative processes – turning everyday life into knitting patterns, making radio shows from daily sounds, or using a journal to cherish plans, dreams and lists – can transform our relationship to life.

Long before I started publishing knitting books and producing my own online courses, I did a PhD in celebrating and foregrounding everyday and domestic sounds.
All my work in KNIT is based on the same fundamental idea: celebrate daily life through attentive, creative and playful practices.
I love mischief, affirmation, accessibility, inclusivity and how creativity can be used as a source of hope and a means of deep connection.
I’m disabled in ways that make it difficult for me to produce the quantity of knitting required for publishing new books and managing physical inventory.
Through 2024 I am selling off existing stock and thinking about useful and uplifting courses that I can create for my online school.

My favourite things that other people have said about my work:
Max Daniels writing for Modern Daily Knitting said that my KNITSONIK Bullet Journaling “sparked a bonfire of joy” for her.
Sarah Moss writing for The Guardian Newspaper described my KNITSONIK Stranded Colourwork Sourcebook as “a sermon against despair as well as a book about knitting”.

In 2023 my husband and I moved to St. Leonards-on-Sea: it’s the best thing we’ve ever done.
