Hastings Writers Group
Hastings Writers Group
We are a group of over 40 people who share a passion for writing. Formed in 1947, we are one of the oldest established writers’ groups in the country. Catherine Cookson, then still unpublished, was a founding member. We come from different backgrounds and have diverse writing experience. Some of us have had work published, while others simply enjoy writing for its own sake. We meet every two weeks on Monday evenings at Crown House on St Leonards seafront. Our activities include competitions with guest judges, manuscript evenings, workshops and the production of an annual group anthology. We aim to offer something for everyone who enjoys writing, in a friendly and supportive environment. Younger writers (aged 11-18) may be interested in joining our Hastings Young Writers group.
